STAINLESS STEEL BELLOWS
Vardhman's stainless steel bellows (expansion joints) absorb thermal expansion, vibration, and misalignment in piping systems. Manufactured from SS 304 / 316 / 321 to EJMA standard, they are designed for long service life in demanding industrial environments including power plants, refineries, chemical plants, and HVAC systems.
01. Types of SS Bellows
- Axial Expansion Bellows: Absorb movement along the pipe axis — most common type for thermal expansion
- Lateral (Transverse) Bellows: Absorb movement perpendicular to the pipe axis
- Angular Bellows: Absorb angular rotation / bending — typically used in pairs with hinges
- Universal Bellows: Two elements with a centre pipe — absorb both axial and lateral movement
- Pressure-balanced Bellows: Eliminate pressure thrust on anchors
- Tied Bellows: With external tie rods limiting movement to lateral deflection
- Material Grades: SS304, SS316, SS316L, SS321 — single or multi-ply
- End Connections: Flanged (ANSI, DIN, BS), plain pipe ends, or weld ends
02. Temperature Range
- -270°C to 700°C
- Higher temperature results in lower working pressure — refer to Temperature Correction Factor chart.
03. Application
- Steam piping expansion joints in power plants and process plants
- Pump and compressor connections — vibration and misalignment absorption
- Exhaust systems — gas turbine, diesel generator, incinerator
- Heat exchanger connections — compensating thermal growth
- District heating and cooling pipelines
- Chemical reactors and distillation column connections
- HVAC ducting expansion joints
- Shipbuilding — exhaust and seawater expansion joints
04. Package Types
- Wooden case / crate, Pallet — individually protected for transit
