STAINLESS STEEL BELLOWS

STAINLESS STEEL BELLOWS

Vardhman's stainless steel bellows (expansion joints) absorb thermal expansion, vibration, and misalignment in piping systems. Manufactured from SS 304 / 316 / 321 to EJMA standard, they are designed for long service life in demanding industrial environments including power plants, refineries, chemical plants, and HVAC systems.

01. Types of SS Bellows

  • Axial Expansion Bellows: Absorb movement along the pipe axis — most common type for thermal expansion
  • Lateral (Transverse) Bellows: Absorb movement perpendicular to the pipe axis
  • Angular Bellows: Absorb angular rotation / bending — typically used in pairs with hinges
  • Universal Bellows: Two elements with a centre pipe — absorb both axial and lateral movement
  • Pressure-balanced Bellows: Eliminate pressure thrust on anchors
  • Tied Bellows: With external tie rods limiting movement to lateral deflection
  • Material Grades: SS304, SS316, SS316L, SS321 — single or multi-ply
  • End Connections: Flanged (ANSI, DIN, BS), plain pipe ends, or weld ends

02. Temperature Range

  • -270°C to 700°C
  • Higher temperature results in lower working pressure — refer to Temperature Correction Factor chart.

03. Application

  • Steam piping expansion joints in power plants and process plants
  • Pump and compressor connections — vibration and misalignment absorption
  • Exhaust systems — gas turbine, diesel generator, incinerator
  • Heat exchanger connections — compensating thermal growth
  • District heating and cooling pipelines
  • Chemical reactors and distillation column connections
  • HVAC ducting expansion joints
  • Shipbuilding — exhaust and seawater expansion joints

04. Package Types

  • Wooden case / crate, Pallet — individually protected for transit
